Basic Knowledge of Proxy Server

April 30th, 2010 Comments off

What is a proxy server?

A Proxy (proxy server) is a server that acts as mediator between the client (the computer of a user) and server (the computer on the other ends of network connection on which the information requested by the user appears for example web server site.) When clients request data from an Internet resource, traffic goes from your web browser/application first through the proxy before it reachs the requested sources and back through the proxy. Then the proxy will transmit the data (information) to you.

Why I need to use a proxy server?

1. Transfer speed improvement. If the file you requested was received before to your proxy server, then proxy server will interrupt this file request and you will receive the file directly from proxy. However need to know, you can got the “speed down” effect. This effect appears when your proxy has long answer time because there is slow connection between you and your proxy server.

2. Security and privacy. Anonymous proxies destroys information about your computer in the requests header. So you can safely surf the net and your information will never be used by hackers and spammers.

3. Sometimes you encounter some problems while accessing to web server (for example, web-chat). You have mistaken while working with some data and / or the server administrator restricted access from your IP. So you can use the anonymous proxy and try to access again.

How can I get fresh proxy server information?

Every proxy server is inclusive of an IP address and a proxy port that is listed next to the address. You can search “free proxy list” on google to get newest proxy servers. Here is a daily updated proxy list I recommend: http://www.aplusproxy.com/proxylist/index.php

How to configure IE 7.0 to use a proxy server?

1. Open Internet Explorer 7.0.

2. Click on the Tools icon from the upper right of the browser and select Internet Options from the menu.

3. Select the Connections tab and click the button for LAN Settings.

4. Click the radio button for Proxy Server. Type the IP number of the proxy In the Address box, and add the port number of the proxy in the Port box.

5. Click the OK button, then OK again.

6. After setting a proxy server, you need to check if that proxy is working. Type www.google.com in your IE7 address bar and see if google index page is loaded for you.

Watching Youtube Videos With A Proxy Server

April 30th, 2010 Comments off

Having trouble watching YouTube or other video sites with your proxy server?  This is a very common problem and it stems from how proxy servers are designed.  There are two basic kinds of proxies: web based or standard http/socks proxies.  Each of these two different kinds of proxy servers has certain features.

The main problem many people can’t view videos on Youtube is because they are using a proxy server that does not support videos and probably a lot of other social networking website features.  Avoid web proxies if possible.  This isn’t to say they don’t work, but they only work for the most basic of things.  If you really want to view videos on Youtube, then the best thing would be to search for a web proxy that was specifically designed for videos.  A quick Google search for “youtube proxy” should turn up a bunch of web based proxies that do the job.  Be aware that this kind of proxy is usually very limited.  They are also shared, meaning that they might be slow and unreliable if too many people start accessing it at the same time.

The other solution is to setup your own HTTP proxy.  These kinds of proxies usually aren’t free like web based ones, but they are much more reliable and a hack of a lot faster.  Why pay for a proxy server if you can use one for free?  Well, if you have a web proxy that works for what you need then I would advise that you don’t pay for an elite or http proxy.  It is obvious that you don’t need one.  However, you may find that web proxies aren’t working for you.  This can be due to a lot of reasons, like poor performance, certain website features don’t work and very little anonymity to just name a few.  Getting your own elite proxy server is very cheap and will set you back only $9 USD or so a month.

Setting up your own Elite Proxy is super easy. Use it as a Youtube Proxy or even a HTTP Proxy.

Proxy Server Basics

April 29th, 2010 Comments off

A proxy server is a computer that offers a computer network service to allow clients to make indirect network connections to other network services. A client connects to the proxy server, then requests a connection, file, or other resource available on a different server. The proxy provides the resource either by connecting to the specified server or by serving it from a cache. In some cases, the proxy may alter the client’s request or the server’s response for various purposes.

Web proxy servers are generally classified into four groups: Transparent, Anonymous, Distorting, and High Anonymity. Transparent proxies identify themselves as a proxy server and also makes the original IP address available through the http headers. Anonymous proxies identify themselves as a proxy server but does not disclose the original IP address. Distorting proxies identify themselves as a proxy server, but make an incorrect original IP address available through the http headers. High Anonymity proxies do not identify themselves are proxy servers and do not reveal the original IP address.

When it comes to security the bottom line is to be wary when using proxy servers, and only use proxy servers of known integrity (e.g., the owner is known and trusted, has a clear privacy policy, etc.), and never use proxy servers of unknown integrity. If there is no choice but to use unknown proxy servers, do not pass any private information (unless it is properly encrypted) through the proxy.

If you are in the habit of using proxy servers and are unsure of their type you can visit whatismyipaddress.com and try the proxy tester to see if your proxy server is detectable.

Proxy Servers Explained

April 29th, 2010 Comments off

On the web network, there are a lot of websites which offer features like file-sharing, instant messaging or leaving comments for the user’s profile. A lot of schools and universities have blocked such websites to be accessed from their locations to restrict people from logging in to these websites. But the use of proxy servers has a technological advance over these restrictions. The Proxy servers let you access websites from restricted locations and are a source to bypass secure sites from blocked locations, as they have the ability to bypass the network firewalls and filters. These proxy servers enable the users to surf the internet from blocked servers and are compatible to surf through sites which have audio and video streaming platforms like Youtube.

A proxy server is a computer program or application which processes a client request and forwards it to other servers. When you connect to a proxy server, and try to access some information available on another server, it forwards the request on your behalf and acts as the host server. In short, it becomes your face and represents you for access to the website or information. There are lots of types of proxy servers available based on your need, such as;

• Web proxy

• Caching proxy server/ Http proxy

• Anonymous proxies

• Intercepting proxies

• Hostile proxy servers

• Reverse proxy servers

• Forced proxy servers.

Usage of these proxy servers requires a simple process to be followed. You have to sign up to be able to use these proxies. Most of these proxy websites offer services without a cost. But, some of them may ask for a small fee to for the proxy services. After signup, the user can type the desired URL (for example: www.myspace.com) on the main page and all connections and traffic to and from the destination URL is redirected via the proxy, making it look as if the traffic is evolving from the main proxy , thus bypassing the domain based URL filtering blocking system. These proxies allow users to browse through the restricted websites and view profiles, post comments, blogs and surf the sites for music.

These proxies are reliable and secure. You have to agree to accept the strict set of terms and conditions like not to access websites that contain illegal content such as ware sites, use for spamming purposes, or distributing Spy ware or any other malicious script and you can surf the internet at school, universities, work and other places without any restriction, using the simple scripts which allow you to access the blocked websites.

How To Find Http Proxy & Proxies

April 28th, 2010 Comments off

If you are looking for an answer to how to find http proxy or proxies online then you’ve come to the right place.  Finding http proxies on the internet is very easy to do.  There are essentially two methods of finding proxies.  One of them is free and one is paid.  Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.  Which one is best for you depends on the kind of proxy you need, what you want to do with it and how important speed and reliability is to you.

The first and easiest way to find http proxies on the internet is to just Google for the term free http proxy.   You’ll find hundreds if not thousands of websites and forums all offering just about every kind of imaginable proxy.  Many of these websites are updated daily and you’ll have a wide choice of proxies located in different countries around the world.  The advantage of using this method to find proxies is that they are free.  You won’t have to pay a single penny to use them.  The downside is that they come and go very fast and are anything but reliable.  Expect free proxies to last maybe only a few hours to a few days before they die and you need to go looking for new ones.  Also expect very slow web surfing speeds.  Since they are free many people use them and this results in shockingly poor performance.  The other alternative is to setup your own http proxies.

Setting up your own proxy has two main advantages: it’s super fast and super reliable.  Since you set the proxy up you are the only person using it.  This means that you have the entire speed of the proxy at your dispose.  Web surfing via your own proxy is about as fast as surfing the internet with your own home computer.  This kind of http proxy gives you access to both HTTP and HTTPS websites and there really is nothing you can do on the internet with one.  Free proxies might be OK for the casual web surfer, but for anyone who values their time and anonymity on the internet, the best answer to how to find http proxy or http proxies is to just set them up yourself.

Discover how to find http proxy today. Setting up your own http proxy is easy and extremely cheap to do. There is no better http proxy server than setting up one yourself.

Navigate Freely on the Internet by Using a Free Proxy Server

April 28th, 2010 Comments off

It is not acceptable that nowadays navigating on the internet is not made respecting the people’s privacy and that anyone who desires can find out the latest moves you made on the internet or can find out personal information like phone number, home address or even passwords and then use them against you.

Many people live in countries which do not allow certain believes and people can get executed just for visiting some web sites or just by writing a personal e-mail which contains complains regarding a government. Some countries even block some web pages in the attempt of “protecting “the citizens against the information those web sites contain.

For protecting our privacy when navigating on the internet, proxy servers have been invented. They are buffers between your computer and the Internet resources you are accessing. There are several types of proxies. There are the: HTTP proxy, the SOCKS proxy, the CGY proxy (the anonymizer), and the FTP proxy. Each type is designed to solve its specific tasks, however they have much in common, and their abilities coincide in many features.

Many people have found out that they can protect themselves and their computer by surfing anonymously. The anonymous surfing works by using an anonymous proxy server which will talk to the desired web site and then communicate the requested information to you. The free proxy sites are easy to use as they are only waiting for you to enter the address (URL) of the site you wish to go to and then they will retrieve the page for you and present it to you in a safe way. The other proxy sites which are not free need an additional program which has to be installed on your computer and they are more complicated.

The free proxy site will transmit to the web page only its IP address and will not sent you address too. In some cases if you use an anonymous proxy site you can be sure that not even the proxy site will know you IP address, so you are completely covered against any unscrupulous attack.

Besides hiding you IP address, free proxy servers can also hide the country and the region you are situated in and so no one can find you while navigating on the internet. Free proxy servers can also manage cookies. Cookies are dangerous as they can trace your activity on the internet and can give companies information about your net surfing.

You can find on the internet a lot of free proxy servers and you can choose one that you thing is best for you and your computer but you must make sure that this free proxy server is an anonymous one as it can protect your IP address 100%.

German Http Proxy – How To Find The Best German Proxy

April 27th, 2010 Comments off

What’s the best way to find a German http proxy?  Finding proxies online is easy but finding one from Germany and one that actually works can be extremely difficult.  If you are looking for http proxies then you have to options.  The first is to look and try to find a working free proxy or to setup your own.  Once you understand the problems with free proxies you’ll see why paying to setup your own http proxy is the smart thing to do.

Free German proxies are not impossible to find.  The best thing you should do is to use software that is designed to bulk test and process proxies.  What this means is that you can paste in a list of thousands of proxies and filter out all the ones that aren’t located in Germany.  The software will also be able to test the proxies so you can see which ones actually work and which ones are so slow that they aren’t worth using.  There are many different kinds of software available to do this and I would recommend that if you want to use free proxies then this is the best thing you can do to try and make sure you get working free proxies.  However, if you want to save hours of time the best solution is to setup your own German proxy.

Setting up your own http proxy makes sense because the kind of reliability and speed you get is more than worth what they cost.  Since you are setting up the proxy you can easily pick a German IP, forget having to spend hours each day filtering through lists of proxies looking for ones that are in Germany.  The other advantage is that your own proxy is rock solid and reliable.  It will work today, tomorrow and for as long as you want the proxy server to stay up.  Free proxies typically come and go on a daily basis, but setting up your own German http proxy means you never have to worry about finding fresh, working proxies nor how slow they are.

Discover how easy it is to setup your own German http proxy today. Setting up your own http proxy is easy and extremely cheap to do. There is no better http proxy server than setting up one yourself.

More Issues About Free Web Proxies

April 27th, 2010 Comments off

Proxy servers are also known as proxies. These servers are used in home networks, corporate intranets or by Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Proxy servers behave as a connection between a client and a server through networking. Proxy servers are useful with web browser and servers by managing network protocols such as HTTP.

Proxy servers develop three main functions and characteristics in the same time. These functions are firewalling and filtering, connection sharing and caching.

These functions are very important for networks like corporate intranets and ISP networks. The proxy servers begin to be useful when there are many users on a LAN and there is a desperate need for data privacy.

The first function of proxy servers, firewalling and filtering is not as popular or important as the other two functions. Proxy servers are not frequently used as firewalls. Installing a proxy server is in most of the cases much more difficult than installing a regular firewall. The difference is also made by the difficulty of maintaining these proxy servers compared to maintaining ordinary firewalls. Another tough thing to do is to configure individually each application protocol such as HTTP, SMTP or SOCKS. If these steps are carefully followed, proxies might have better results than a regular firewall, improving the network security and performance.

It is also known that there is the possibility of deploying both firewalls and proxy servers to work in tandem. For that the network administrators have to install both applications on the same server.

Web proxy servers might help network administrators in baring access to illegal domains but in the same time to allow access to other sites. The differences between a proxy server and a firewall is made in the moment we agree that firewall has the possibility to filter the information by the port number or the network address while proxy servers can also filter through the application content inside the messages.

The second property of proxy servers is connection sharing. It is true that in the last period many software products were developed in order to help the network share but proxy servers are a more scalable and cost-effective alternative for internet access.

The last mentioned property is caching. This mean that the information obtained through these proxy servers, even if they are public, free or anonymous, will be stored in a so called database named cache. Each time the same information is required that information is being restored from the cache memory without a direct connection to the server. This is the most important function that will certainly lead to the improvement of the internet speed.

Tor Proxy – Forcing Tor To Use Us Ips Only

April 26th, 2010 Comments off

TOR is a great http proxy or elite proxy alternative for someone who is looking for a free proxy server to be anonymous online.  While TOR is free, keep in mind that it is far from being completely and totally anonymous.  While you are surfing the internet with TOR anyone can examine your IP and detect that you are using a TOR proxy server and are trying to hide your real identity.  Depending on what you need a proxy for this may or may not be a problem.  TOR is fine provided you realize the limitations and where it can and can’t be used.

While a great free web proxy, TOR can sometimes be painfully slow.  This is caused by the many different TOR servers located around the world and obviously using a server located on the other side of the world will result in extremely high latency or delay times while surfing the net.  Another problem is that you will get a seemingly random IP and this can be a big problem for anyone who wants to use a US based or other country specific IP.  The good news is that using the tips below you can force TOR to use US based proxies only.

To make TOR use only US nodes add the following to your TOR config file:

ExcludeNodes {be},{pl},{ca},{za},{vn},{uz},{ua},{tw},{tr},{th}, {sk},{sg},{se},{sd},{sa},{ru},{ro},{pt},{ph},{pa}, {nz},{np},{no},{my},{mx},{md},{lv},{lu},{kr},{jp}, {it},{ir},{il},{ie},{id},{hr},{hk},{gr},{gi},{gb}, {fi},{es},{ee},{dk},{cz},{cy},{cr},{co},{cn},{cl}, {ci},{ch},{by},{br},{bg},{au},{at},{ar},{aq},{ao}, {ae},{nl},{de},{fr}

Hopefully you can see that the above code will make TOR ignore all nodes that are located in those countries.  The end result is that only the US nodes will be used.  This is great for anyone who is in or near the US and wants a US based node thanks to the commonly faster performance and other advantages of using a US based IP.

Setting up your own Elite Proxy is super easy. Use it as a HTTP Proxy or an Anonymous Proxy Server.

Elite Proxy Vs Http Proxy Vs Socks Proxy Vs Vpn?

April 26th, 2010 Comments off

Ever wonder about the difference between an elite proxy, HTTP/S proxy, a socks proxy and a VPN?  If you are just starting out in the proxy world, it can be very confusing thanks to the sheer number of different kinds of proxies that are available.  Which one is best?  Which one should you use?  The good news is that picking a proxy server is simple and very easy to do once you understand what they are and how they work.

There are basically three kinds of proxies: http/s proxy, socks proxy and a VPN (which really isn’t a proxy).  Elite proxies fall under the category of http/s proxy and they are called elite proxies because they offer 100% anonymity.  However, what is important is knowing what each of the different kinds of proxies can do and what they are best for.  Are you interested in mainly web surfing and do other basic web activity online?  If so then the best choice for you is a HTTP/S proxy.  These proxies will work for web surfing, social networking and just about everything else you can do on the internet.  If you want to do more than just websurf, then you will need to use SOCK proxies.  These proxies are more flexible than HTTP proxies and can be used for a wide variety of different purposes, beyond just web surfing and watching videos online at youtube.  This includes emailing and a wide variety of other things.

The final group of proxies are VPN proxies.  These technically aren’t proxies, but instead route your traffic through their server to where you want to go.  It sounds a lot like a proxy and in many ways functions very similar to both HTTP and SOCKs proxies.  What’s the difference then?  VPN can encrypt your data making it much more secure than http and socks proxies.  VPN setups are costly and require a lot more hardware and software than either HTTP or SOCKs proxies.

So which one is right for you?  If you are looking to do basic web surfing, then go for a HTTP proxy.  If you want to do more than just web surfing online, SOCKs proxies are probably what you need.  The other advantage of these two proxy types is that they are cheap to setup and can be configured with multiple IPs.  Most people probably need a HTTP/S proxy because they want to be anonymous online, aka an elite proxy.

Setting up your own Elite Proxy is super easy. Use it as a Craigslist Proxy with your Craigslist PVA.
