HTTP Proxy – Your Own HTTPS Proxy Server

Having trouble finding HTTP proxies online that actually work and aren’t already dead? If you are then don’t worry because it is a very common problem and you aren’t the only person who experiences it. Finding proxies can sometimes be VERY hard, especially if you want to find ones that actually work, are anonymous and aren’t already dead or don’t die after just a couple of days. The key to finding working proxies is actually MUCH easier than you may think, and I am talking about something that you use everyday, Google. That’s right, let the search engines do the work! You could use any search engine, but I think the Big G returns results which are much better than all other players, especially when it comes to proxy server lists.

So how can you use Google to find http proxies? Well, just search for “http proxy list” or any other combination of those words. What you will see returned in Google is a huge list of websites that have lists of HTTP proxies. This doesn’t mean that they will all work, but at least it is somewhere to start. Be careful because you will find that these websites include SOCKS along with the normal HTTP proxies, but if you are after HTTP only then remember to ignore the SOCKs. Once you’ve found a website make sure that you BOOKMARK it. Yes, save it and come back a few days later. You need to do this because you want to see how often the site updates its lists of proxies. Are they everyday or once a week or once a month or once a year? Obviously you want to find a site that updates as frequently as possible, because this means that if any proxies you find do die then they can be replaced almost immediately.

So what kind of proxy websites are the best or are there any tips to finding good sites with reliable lists? I would personally stick to using Google to search and make sure you also look for “http proxy forum”. You will find several forums out there that are dedicated to talking about proxies and people also provide free proxies for other members to use. The downsite is that you will need to register and create an account to see most of the proxy lists on these sites, but the good news is that they are usually free. Also look for Blogger or Blogspot sites. It may sound strange but some of the BEST http proxy sites I have ever found were hosted on free blog type sites. Maybe they were worried about getting caught or taken down? I don’t know but try searching them for working proxies also.

Once you have found a few good sites that have reliable and workings lists of http proxies be sure you save them. You don’t know how many times I’ve found a site and forgotten to bookmark it, so don’t make the same mistake as I did. Check sites often to see if they are updated frequently and STAY updated frequently. Some webmasters build proxy list sites and start off great but give up after a month or so. Ideally you want to use Google and find a site or forum that is updated with http proxy lists on a daily basis. This doesn’t guarantee you will find lists that ALWAYS work, and if you REALLY want to have a 100% reliable working http proxy server, then you really HAVE to set up your own proxy server.
